Adult Education Sharpens Up Men In the Service

Continuing education is a need for every individual, but this is particularly essential for those who have much at stake – specifically for those who are involved in military service. As if the admission process isn’t rigorous enough, the soldier has to keep up with the latest developments in combat efficiency while keeping mental abilities at its peak; for this purpose, an adult education course is most beneficial.
Programs on adult education in the military are fortunately one of the most comprehensive and advanced efforts in the world, combining hands-on skill learning with theoretical instruction, both through face-to-face or computer-based instruction. The primary goal of implementing adult education as part of standard military training is to equip service personnel with the right tools for their job, as well as to keep their competencies at exceptional levels. This ensures that they are capable of providing support to the country’s interests in keeping its national policies and security intact.
There are voluntary education programs which allow enlisted personnel to get involved with a college education, either as an off-duty or as a part-time continuing education. The available programs for continuing education in the military are numerous, ranging from an undergraduate diploma in turfgrass management, to Associate and Bachelor degrees in various disciplines, to Master and PhDs; all of these may also be earned online, with colleges which have web-based programs, such as Penn State College.
Aside from formal education, those in the service are also recommended to enroll in other educational programs as part of their off-duty responsibilities; this allows them to keep their aptitudes and abilities at top performance while they are away from duty. Joint efforts by the military and the civilian education sector allow for both on and off-duty education to military personnel; this makes use of available resources and facilities from both parties, in order to get the most out of the program.
The credits which are earned with continuing education are guaranteed to be of equal value with those offered at traditional campuses, and the means of getting an education may be made much easier by reducing the coursework to less than a fraction of the usual degree requirements. Credit transfers are also relatively hassle-free, with a reduction in unrecognized credit and coursework duplication, since the courses are standardized and compatible with most curriculums. There are also credits which are awarded accordingly depending on the extent of experience with military service, and also with the aptitude evaluations on mandatory and voluntary exams recognized by the American Council on Education, such as a GED certificate or a high school equivalency diploma.
Adult education is not only beneficial for service personnel while enlisted in the military; it is also indispensable once he or she gets back on the civilian sector. An extensive military background is appealing to any employer who wants the most out of his team, not excluding the organizational and leadership skills which go along with it; but if it is coupled with a diploma or degree in related fields, a discharged soldier can contribute as much to his or her society, whether enlisted in the military service, or as a member of a corporate team.
